A clever design for straining, pouring or covered cooking. The lid, made of crystal clear, break resistant glass, has a deep rim with optional straining holes. To strain, line the holes up with the pan's pour spouts and strain with ease. For covered cooking, rotate the lid to close the holes and moisture will stay inside the pan. To pour, remove the lid and use the pour spouts that are built into the pan body. Regardless of these convenient features, you have a saucepan made of even heating hard-anodized steel for great cooking performance. A durable nonstick surface makes for stress-free cleaning

Love, love, love the spout on this pan and the way the lid stays tight for pouring out excess liquids. Great size, perfect for making mashed potatoes and pasta.

This entire line of pans is superb. The silicone handles are very comfortable and provide for a sure grip. The straining lid in the 3.5 qt. pan is so helpful for draining vegetables, etc. A separate drainer is not needed. This is a good size pan for general use. The non-stick coating inside and out is great. Makes clean-up a breeze. No need to use high heat with this line. There is nothing more in any pan in this line that a person could want, in my opinion.

Yes, I'm giving this five stars and haven't used it yet. But I write specifically to warn others about the so-called "bronze" tone of the item. In my opinion, it looks more purpleish, almost with a pink cast, than what I consider bronze tone to be. I consider bronze to be more brownish and gold tone, which this is not. Indeed, think brass; which is a cousin of bronze. The pan does not look at all like the picture on the Amazon cite. I never thought I would nitpick over oolor this much, but I'm seriously considering returning it and getting the standard grey tone color. The color is hideous. It has no guts. I thought it would perk-up my kitchen next to the hanging black cast iron pans or the stainless steal pans with a bright different color. It doesn't. I once went to a wake where the decedent was laid our in a bronze casket (he had big bucks). Had he been laid out in a casket that looked like this, he just might have stoped everything, sent everyone home, apologized and told them to come back when his family found a better casket. This is another example of being cautious about buying on-line
In any event, this otherwise appears to be a very good sauce pan. I specifically ordered it because of the drainage feature with the spouts. Not necessarily because I plan on using it to drain things all that much but by adjusting the alignment of the holes for drainage on the lid with the spouts on the pan, you can adjust the amount of steam that escapes while something is simmering, like rice or lentils. You don't have to play around with keeping the lid ajar during simmering. This does it automatically, at any desired amount of steam that you want to escape. I just wonder also if this feature would dispense with using a colandar for cooking pasta. The downside to this feature is that you really can't use a steamer insert as the spout openings will allow steam to escape and not all of the steam will be directed through the holes in the steamer insert.
Yes, as others have said, this pan is heavy, especially when filled with water. But it's obviously built to last. Very good construction. Some have commented about the lack of a "helper" handle. I bet that one of the reason it doesn't have a helper handle is a precaution. When draining food, the lack of a helper handle forces you to use your free hand to hold the lid secure, otherwise if you don't hold the lid secure the food just might spill in the sink.
By the way, unlike the dimensions posted on the cite, the dimensions of this pan are 7 inches wide by 5.5 inches high. With a 7 inch diameter be careful; this is narrow and the flames of a gas top stove will easily shoot up the sides and cause discloration. But then again, any color is probably better than the existing color. It's made in Thailand.

The price is right for this size. It's perfect to put the whole chicken in for the soup, just a bit heavy for mom to lift and drain sideway, maybe the spout should design at the opposite to the handle to make it easier.
My friend got a similar one in 2q but different brand, which is the right size for single guy.
One thing is true as other's comment is the coating, it's too easy to be scratched.
But I bought it for mother's day, so, overall it's the best gift.

A very good pan at this price point: exceptional, in fact. Heats evenly, top grade non-stick surface, stay cool handle, useful depth to pan and flexibility of steam retained or released by a twist of the lid that also provides a drain option when pan is tipped.
